Auditions Added for “The Next Pop Star” Television Show as Danity Kane’s D. Woods Joins Betty Wright and Other Industry Professionals
MIAMI BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pop Starz Productions, Inc., an affiliate of Pop Starz, Inc. (Pink Sheets:PSRZ), announced today that it has just opened an additional and final audition date for its televised vocal competition “The Next Pop Star” – Saturday, October 27th, 2007, at Jazziz Bistro at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino – and announced that D. Woods of the Platinum-award winning pop group “Danity Kane” will join the panel of judges for the audition. “After the fantastic feedback we’ve received on the previous auditions, we wanted to do our best to give everyone the chance to get in on the fun and get real feedback from the stars who have been down that path before and succeeded!” according to one of the show’s executive producers, Jonathan Greene, President of Pop Starz Productions, Inc. Contestants must pre-register at www.bethenextpopstar.com to guarantee an audition. For all of the details, including rules and FAQs for the show, visit www.bethenextpopstar.com or email questions to info@bethenextpopstar.com.
The upcoming auditions come on the heels of auditions held at Yuca on Lincoln Road in South Beach, on Saturday, October 6, 2007, where Aubrey O’Day of Danity Kane appeared as a celebrity guest judge for “The Next Pop Star.” Aubrey reviewed and held feedback sessions with groups of contestants, who tried to prove themselves worthy of moving on to the second round of the vocal competition. “The Next Pop Star” is seeking top singers from across Florida (and beyond) to exhibit their vocal talent as well as their stage presence, personality, and marketing savvy for the show, to be televised beginning in January 2008.

Judging the competition with Aubrey was Multiple Grammy-award winning recording artist, vocal producer and vocal coach, Betty Wright, and reality-show veteran and professional choreographer, Moy, who was a finalist for the 2004 national televised competition entitled “Fame” for “triple threat” performers (singing, dancing & presentation).

Competitors were first seen by three industry professionals, Bombshell, Asher, and Nick Roses, who provided detailed

feedback on the performances. The panel then informed each participant if he or she would go on to phase two of the audition in front of TV cameras and the show’s primary judges, Aubrey, Betty and Moy.

The first audition for “The Next Pop Star” was highlighted by the appearance of Grammy-award and two-time triple Platinum award winning singer/songwriter, Joss Stone, as a celebrity judge along with Betty Wright and Moy.

Sponsors of “The Next Pop Star” include Spa Eleven, Play Along Toys, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Monster Beverages and a3TV. Opportunities for sponsorship are still available.

About D. Woods:

As one of five winners of P Diddy’s “Making the Band 3,” D. Wood’s first album as a member of the group, Danity Kane, was certified Platinum from RIAA in November 2006. The album's lead single "Show Stopper," produced by Jim Jonsin, was released to radio on August 4, 2006, and subsequently debuted at number 17 on Billboard's Hot 100.

About “The Next Pop Star”:

The experience and expertise of Joss, Aubrey, “D.”, Betty, Moy, and publishing veteran Patrick Conseil will help narrow the field to those contestants that will be called back to pursue their dream. Patrick served as Warner-Chappell Music’s Vice-President of International and Creative for 12 years and now heads his own entertainment company, Pure Pop Music, Inc.

From the auditions, sixty vocalists will be called back in November to perform for the judges before a live band. Of those, thirty contestants will earn a spot in the Showcase round of the competition. In the Showcases, the contestants will take the stage with a live band again, to try to “wow” the judges and only the very best will advance to the Semifinals. In that phase, the remaining ten contestants will leave the comfort of the studio behind and “hit the road” for ten days of performances and more challenges that will test their abilities so they can prove that they have what it takes to succeed in the music industry.

The remaining two contestants will battle it out in front of a live audience for the title of “The Next Pop Star” and the choice of either a $100,000 recording contract with Pop Starz Records or a $2,500 cash prize. The television program will be broadcast for thirteen weeks, premiering in January 2008 on television and the web. The Finale will be broadcast from South Florida and is slated for March 2008.

“The Next Pop Star” is produced by Pop Starz Productions, Inc., a subsidiary of Pop Starz, Inc.
