July 25, 2007 - Press Release
Pop Starz Records to Award
$100,000 Recording Contract to Winner of “The Next Pop Star”
Pop Starz Inc.  (Pink Sheets: PSRZ - News) announced today that it is launching a new reality vocal talent competition called "The Next Pop Star." The show, inspired by "American Idol" and "The Apprentice," was conceived to showcase South Florida's most gifted young singers and performers and challenge their dedication to make it big. "The Next Pop Star" will provide a televised stage for solo performers between the ages of 13 and 28, who will first audition and then face a competitive elimination process leading up to a $100,000 grand prize recording contract with Pop Starz Records www.popstarzrecords.com.

"The Next Pop Star" seeks to discover the best young vocalist in South Florida, through a series of local auditions in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach County. Experts from various segments of the entertainment industry, including celebrity judges, will critique the contestants' performances. The contestants must also complete unique challenges to test their ability to self-promote and guarantee they have what is takes to make it in "the business." The outcomes of the latter stages of this competition will be determined in part by public participation,
including voting by text messages and will air on local television and be available on the web. In addition to television, the show will have an exciting, interactive website. Audition dates, times and location will be announced within the next few weeks.

In an interview with Anderson Cooper on the CBS TV current affairs show 60 Minutes on March 17, 2007 (repeated in extended format on CNN's AC 360 program on March 27, 2007), judge Simon Cowell indicated that revenue from recordings by performers associated with American Idol have already exceeded $100 million. Some of these popular reality shows have attracted in excess of 37 million viewers per episode and have become marketing juggernauts, leading the surge in reality television programming. "The Next Pop Star" will join the growing momentum of reality TV.

The Next Pop Star will be executive produced by Pop Starz Productions principals David Schmidt and Becky Remmel, who are credited with more than 30 national awards. Their experience includes The Arsenio Hall Show, City Nights, Dawson's Creek, I Know What You Did Last Summer and ABC news as well as local original programming. Schmidt created, directed and produced the successful "Rising Star" talent contest in Boca Raton in 2003 and 2004 which aired to 250,000 households on Boca Raton Educational Television ("BRET").

Auditions will begin September 2007. The first episode is slated to air January 2008. For more information visit bethenextpopstar.com
